Cottage Garden Overalls; Pink Dahlia

Description

A set of early 1900s inspired overalls, created from a bolt end of deadstock vintage floral cotton from my stash of old textiles. Probably 1980s gauging it by the other pieces I acquired it with, and a mediumweight fabric, originally intended for curtains or soft furnishings, but lending itself perfectly to this style. A blousy floral in faded pinks and blues on an ivory ground.
The low cut at the front and sides means this piece layers beautifully over any of our full sleeve drawstring blouses, or dirndl skirt sets…. But it’s roomy enough to also sit comfortably over a sweater in the colder months.
Perfect for romantically drifting about the garden, possibly with a trug and secateurs.

Generous pleats and elasticated side straps for ease of movement, with the generous curved patch pockets and deep hem adding couture detail.

IMPORTANT: Please be sure to read both our shipping and refund policy pages before placing an order (links to both at foot of page). By placing an order you are indicating you have read and accepted these terms.

Sizing As the fit of all these garments is meant to be loose and fluid it provides a fair bit of flexibility on sizing.

I have designated this a medium size. It is graded to a UK 14, but its generous cut means it could work for a range of sizes from UK 10-16.
Shown on a size UK10 mannequin

I have given the actual garment measurements below so it is very important you ascertain for yourself how it will work with your own measurements. Remember to double the bust and waist figures to give maximum circumferences, and that these pieces are meant to be loose fitting, so allow a generous amount of room over your particular body measurements where appropriate.

Underarm to underarm (bust) ; 58.5cms / 21” (but with some extra room on account of the low armholes and elasticated side straps)

Waist; 58.5cms / 23”

Shoulder to hem length; 128cms/ 50" or 120cms/ 47"

 Construction

As with all of the Pavilion Parade Vestments pieces, the quality of the finish is paramount, with French (enclosed) and bound seams throughout (no overlocking) to ensure both a comfortable wear and a long life.

Each of these pieces is created from vintage 100% natural fibre textiles.

Care

Hand wash or machine wash on a 40 degree cotton cycle. A press with a warm iron on the cotton setting will bring your garment up beautifully, or you can just leave if you prefer a slightly more ‘worn’ look. The wonderful thing about these vintage cotton textiles is that the more you wash them the lovelier and more tactile they get!

The ingredients Please be aware that these unique pieces are created from vintage textiles, which have had a previous life, so consequently there may be the odd very minor smudge or tiny catch to the surface of the fabric. These in no way impinge on their beauty, and you can be sure that they do not compromise the integrity of the material. Any little area of actual damage or thinning is repaired with a tiny embroidered patch (one of my favourite features!), and this is always clearly mentioned in the description.

Sustainability Every time a Pavilion Parade piece is purchased a donation is made via Ecologi to fund the planting of a tree and make a positive net contribution to combatting climate change. The trees are environmentally high value and part of gold standard schemes designed and managed to benefit local communities.

Packaging  Garments are dispatched in acid free tissue paper and recyclable cardboard boxes sealed with kraft paper eco tape. These are placed inside pouches for weather protection during transit which are made entirely from an environmentally friendly compostable bio-plastic created from sugar-cane.
