Fine Cotton Dirndl Set : Cinnamon Stripe

Description

A charming relaxed ensemble perfect for warm spring and summer days....or can be layered up with one of our fine wool or silk robes.

A voluminous double layer fine cotton blouse with full length billowy sleeves gathered into narrow cuffs, elasticated so they can be pushed up and worn at 3/4 length.

Can be worn loose or tucked into a waistband if preferred.

A fully adjustable scoop neckline is threaded with a rouleau drawstring, so it can be worn loose and off the shoulder or drawn in close to the throat. The drawstring is finished with tassels.

Created from a fine semi-sheer handwoven beautifully light and airy cotton; a vintage traditional Indian kota doria weave with little checks or 'khats' in the texture. In an earthy palette of cinnamon and ebony on a pale tan ground, block printed with an asymmetric stripe motif and more intricate Indienne floral banded elements to the hem borders and sleeves.

The full dirndl skirt closes at the side with a concealed zip and buttons, and has all the volume gathered into a wide waistband, which is elasticated at the back to give some sizing flexibility. Slanted side pockets and attached double border at hem to add detail. Created from the same handwoven kota doria cotton as the blouse. Fully lined in a complementary ebony checked vintage Indian cotton.

Created from carefully selected vintage 100% pure cotton saris.

Sizing As the fit of all these garments is meant to be loose and fluid it provides a fair bit of flexibility on sizing.

I have designated this a medium size. It is graded to a UK 14, but its generous cut means it could work for a range of sizes from UK 10-16 depending  how loose you like the fit and how low you are comfortable with the waistband sitting.
Shown on a size UK10 mannequin (skirt waistband pinned to fit)

I have given the actual garment measurements below so it is very important you ascertain for yourself how it will work with your own measurements. Remember to double the bust and waist figures to give maximum circumferences, and that these pieces are meant to be loose fitting, so allow a generous amount of room over your particular body measurements where appropriate.

 Construction

As with all of the Pavilion Parade Vestments pieces, the quality of the finish is paramount, with French and bound seams throughout (no overlocking) to ensure both a comfortable wear and a long life.

Each of these pieces is created from vintage 100% natural fibre saris. The design is very considered, with the cut engineered to make the best use of the various areas of beautiful block printed or woven design on the sari.  I will spend some hours before cutting trying out different pattern layouts to ensure the most pleasing finished effect.

Care; Whilst it is fine to dry-clean these garments I would always urge a gentle hand wash instead where possible. Or a delicate cycle in the washing machine to best prolong the life and colour. Much better for the environment.

A press with a warm iron on the cotton setting will bring your garment up beautifully, or you can just leave if you prefer a slightly more crushed look.

The ingredients Please be aware that these unique pieces are created from vintage textiles, which have had a previous life, so consequently there may be the odd very minor smudge or tiny catch to the surface of the fabric. These in no way impinge on their beauty, and you can be sure that they do not compromise the integrity of the material. Any little area of actual damage or thinning is repaired with a tiny embroidered patch (one of my favourite features!), and this is always clearly mentioned in the description.

Sustainability Every time a Pavilion Parade piece is purchased a donation is made via Ecologi to fund the planting of a tree and make a positive net contribution to combatting climate change. The trees are environmentally high value and part of gold standard schemes designed and managed to benefit local communities.

Packaging  Garments are dispatched in acid free tissue paper and recyclable cardboard boxes sealed with kraft paper eco tape. These are placed inside pouches for weather protection during transit which are made entirely from an environmentally friendly compostable bio-plastic created from sugar-cane.
