Fine Lawn & Lace ‘Deshabille’ Robe; Antique Originals

Description

A delicate romantic 19th or early 20th century natural white fine cotton lawn and lace deshabille robe.
Finely worked, with lots of frothy lace tiers at the hem and front edges. Elaborate inset lace and lawn detailing to the bodice and full elbow length sleeves closed at breast with single mother-of-pearl button.

Exquisitely made, and apparently unworn or only lightly worn, so in generally excellent condition. A couple of age related rust spots which have been largely removed with the gentle application of lemon juice and sunlight and are now negligible, and two or three tiny catches to the lawn ( now secured with hand stitched) hidden under the lace at the front edges. One unnoticeable 2cm missing lace edge on the frothy hem tier. All pictured.

All of the original antique garments offered are very wearable ( with a certain amount of care owing to their age).

The ingredients Please be aware that these unique pieces are genuine antique and vintage articles which have had a previous life, so consequently there may be the odd very minor smudge or mark to the surface. These in no way impinge on their beauty, and you can be sure that they do not compromise the integrity of the material. Our original antique garments are carefully selected, with only the most pleasing examples being offered in the online store.
Any area of actual damage or thinning is indicated in the description and is carefully repaired or strengthened as required, in a way that complements the beauty of the original garment. These should be seen as an enhancement to the garment, and a sign of the textile's previous life and history.

This is a deliberate choice to fit in with our ethos of creating beautiful garments with minimal impact on the planet.
