Flight of Fancy; Floral Silk Organza Ball Gown

Description

Created in the old Brighton studio from a contemporary ivory silk organza with a splashy print of blousy coral roses.  A fitted bodice with deep plunge neckline with an illusion tulle insert. The neckline is trimmed with a bias frill of the silk organza and silk ribbon embroidered rosebuds. Fitted narrow bracelet length sleeves with neat '40s style high puffed shoulders. A coral silk ribbon accentuates the waist seam, which sits on the natural waistline at the back but rises slightly higher at the front. A sweeping double organza layer skirt extends into a train.

The dress closes at the back with a long row of little silk covered buttons and rouleau  loops.

The dress is fully lined in silk crepe and silk habutai, and includes an integral net petticoat.

This is an unrepeatable sample dress that has just been used in a photo-shoot, and is in immaculate condition. It would make a stunning bridal gown, or could be shortened to ankle length to create a lovely special occasion summer dress.

 

The ingredients This is constructed from a contemporary 100% silk organza, using an entire piece length which was specially commissioned to avoid waste.

Sizing 

A UK size 8-10

I have given the actual garment measurements below so you can ascertain for yourself how it will work with your own measurements. Remember to double the bodice figures to give maximum circumferences, and whilst this gown is meant to be close fitting, remember to allow an amount of ease over your particular body measurements 

 

Underarm to underarm, laid flat; 45cms/ 17.5"  

Waist, laid flat; 35cms/ 13.5"

Full hip, laid flat ; Free 

Shown on a UK size 8 mannequin

Dress length, shoulder to front hem; 160cms/ 62.5"

 

Dress length options;    In order to accomodate people of varying heights I have created the pieces long. For this piece I am offering to shorten the dress before it is sent out to your required length at no extra charge, but it should be noted that once shortened it cannot be returned. 

Care; This silk gown should be dry-cleaned by an evening wear specialist.

 

Sustainability Every time a Flight of Fancy piece is purchased a donation is made via Ecologi to fund the planting of 10 trees and make a positive net contribution to combatting climate change. The trees are environmentally high value and part of gold standard schemes designed and managed to benefit local communities.

Packaging Garments are dispatched in acid free tissue paper and recyclable cardboard boxes sealed with kraft paper eco tape. These are placed inside pouches (for weather protection during transit) which are made entirely from an environmentally friendly compostable bio-plastic created from sugar-cane.
