Flight of Fancy; Grey Tulle Dancing Heron Gown

Description

Created in the old Brighton studio from a contemporary silver grey tulle over pale neutral/blush 100% silk habutai.  A close fitting cupped boned bodice with sweetheart neckline embellished with finest quality metallic silver French lace, and a pair of embroidered herons performing their dancing courtship ritual.  A sweeping tulle and silk skirt extends into a small train. 

Gathered ruffled tulle sleeves are trimmed with silver French lace and are detachable, attaching to the bodice with little silk ribbons. The separate long tulle train attaches to the waist of the dress with further silk ribbons, and can also be removed and worn as a long cape. 

The dress closes at the back with a long row of little silk covered buttons and rouleau loops.

The dress is fully lined in 100% silk habutai

This is a one-off unrepeatable dress that has just been used in a photo-shoot, and is in excellent freshly dry-cleaned condition. There are a couple of nibbles at the tulle hem that are completely invisible when worn as it is so full, and there may be one or two very faint marks on the silk under-layer commensurate with its sample dress status.  It would make a stunning bridal or ball gown. (I have included a few images from a shoot at a French chateau to demonstrate how lovely it is when worn). An opportunity to acquire a couture quality gown at a vastly reduced price as I no longer make wedding dresses. 

The ingredients This is constructed from contemporary man-made fine tulle and 100% silk habutai.

A UK size 8/10 (US size 4/6)

I have given the actual garment measurements below so you can ascertain for yourself how it will work with your own measurements. Remember that whilst this gown is meant to be very close fitting, you should allow an amount of ease over your particular body measurements.


Bust (measured on inside of bodice to include cups) ; 85cms/ 34"  

Waist (measured on inside of bodice; 67 cms/ 26"

Full hip ; Free 

Shown on a UK size 8 mannequin

Dress length, waist to front hem; 117cms/ 46"

 

Dress length options;    The skirt can be shortened rather easily, and is a pretty straightforward task for an experienced alterations tailor.

Care; This  gown should be dry-cleaned by an evening wear specialist.

 

Sustainability Every time a piece is purchased a donation is made via Ecologi to fund the planting of 10 trees and make a positive net contribution to combatting climate change. The trees are environmentally high value and part of gold standard schemes designed and managed to benefit local communities.

Packaging Garments are dispatched in acid free tissue paper and recyclable cardboard boxes sealed with kraft paper eco tape. These are placed inside pouches (for weather protection during transit) which are made entirely from an environmentally friendly compostable bio-plastic created from sugar-cane.
